princessofg sent me to synecdochic's story. It's John/Rodney, it's definitely sex-heavy, it sizzles ... but the important part is that it so perfectly lets us in behind the mask of a man - a pilot - who was sent to Antarctica for the garbage runs for disobeying orders.

Why did they do that? And why did he accept that rather than demobbing and going into private flying?
