An' we weren't even Crackers. We were Quality, albeit somewhat decayed. Probably why I was able to see it when the local kluck klams weren't.

Back on topic, this may be why I consider "soul food" to be my native cuisine ... Hoppin' John with mustard greens on the side, and a glass of iced tea, yum.

Where I live now (Canada) we have a vertical mosaic of cultures rather than a Melting Pot. I'm an AmeriCanadian. My buds at work are Filipino Canadians, Polish Canadians, Srbski Canadians ... etc. Their kids will be Canadians, playing hockey, and eating pizza, pierogies, naan, even bannock. (My boy's a Canadian-American, ::sigh::)
