Most of the people on this list are Bar Flies, or relatives of BFs. Unfortunately, two of the Bar Flies that I recognize are also homophobic idiots.

Barflies or Slashers; I checked out a couple and found some rabid pro-gun folks. And by "rabid" what I mean is "Of the opinion that there are no rational people in favor of gun control, nor any rational reasons to consider for gun control."

So. That they are "close" to me is no reason for me to subject myself to the same virulence I needed to escape on the Bar itself.

Absolutely not. [Side note: ever since a certain Personage stomped off the Bar in a fit of pique, the whole place has gotten quieter. Not necessarily better, just quieter.]

You just have friends who have different tastes. BTW, if you want to block certain LJ names from ever leaving a comment on your posts, there's a way to do it, through the LJ Admin window...I think it's called ban_set. I used it to make sure one of those particular persons could not ever post on my LJ.

Personage? This wouldn't be an Authorial Personage of Aresian viewpoint, would it?

Well, near as I can figure after all the hooting and hollering were done and the dust settled down, Said Personage got bent out of shape about something , possibly because his will wasn't done, and swore that he had Better Things To Do, and Took Himself Away. It was a kerfuffle that was oddly smaller than it might have been predicted. There was the predictable Last Post, with the also predictable Many Posts of Sorrow and Support. The Last Post was, naturally, cross-posted to other conferences, so that All Might Weep.

And, once the dust did settle, the Almighty Conference did quiet down. They still talk a lot of guns-n-ammo thereabouts, but the flames are just embers. ;-)

The backstory I have some clues, but will email you with instead, once I put those clues back into my memory. ;-)

Huh. Wonder if it's safe for me to re-enter?

If you stay away from certain conferences, I can pretty much guarantee your blood pressure will remain within normal limits. ;-) The ones I read are 1632 Tech Manual, Baen's Bar, and Dr. Monkey. I'll dip my toes into Lois' conference, Eric's other conferences, Wen's conference and maybe Authors or Books. There's a bunch of new conferences.

Homophobic idjits, eh? Well, if they should show up here rudely, I'll ask you for that blockage instruction.
