The real problem comes in when they have to justify it.

Heard during the suit before the New Jersey Supreme Court on whether to permit homosexuals the same rights to the benefits of marriage that heterosexuals now enjoy:
“If there is no harm to hetero marriage,” Associate Justice LaVecchia said, “then what is the state resting this on?”

DeAlmeida responded by saying heterosexual couples will not want to marry if homosexual couples can.
He actually said that. *is stunned*

Presumably they won't want to have sex, eat or sleep either then, given that I'm pretty sure that gay folks are doing all that already. ::Boggles::

If he doesn't _make_ the argument, the Court can't _reject_ the argument. Remember: He's a _lawyer_, a paid advocate for the status quo in this case. That means he uses whatever stones he's got to build this fence.

That said, I think it's a dumb argument for that side and would only "convince" those who are _already_ convinced.

You know, last I could see, homosexuals breathed, too. Dare we hope?

Well, I tend to agree with William Safire on this issue, "Go ahead and allow homosexual marriage, mayhaps the competition might improve heterosexual marriages and certainly couldn't hurt them."
